"Selling" insurance without a license could be a problem . . . even if you call the commission a royalty . . .
 
Another note/question... article states, "First, AARP solicited its members’ enrollment in the Medigap program."

It seems to me, if I'm not mistaken, that AARP has never just said, "AARP Members - join this group med supp" - rather, they solicit non-members as much as, if not more than, their members. I could be wrong...
 
Well they don't make much from those $15 dues but sure collect a lot in "royalties"

Scott, AARP promotes the BENEFITS of membership, such as savings on insurance, cruises, hotels, meals . . . .

If you want one of their products for "members only" you have to join.

If you dig deeper, about 2/3rds of that is coming from UHC. The branding for Medicare is what makes it all happen.
