NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Jan. 2, 2018 marked Pacific Life’s sesquicentennial anniversary, celebrating 150 years of service to its policyholders. In honor of this milestone anniversary, Pacific Life is embarking on a year-long celebration, designed to showcase the company’s rich history, engage employees, give back to its communities, and illustrate its preparedness for the next 150 years.

Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company of California was incorporated on January 2, 1868 in Sacramento and issued the company’s first policy to former California Governor Leland Stanford, the company’s first president. Pacific Mutual overcame the destruction of its headquarters in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake by relocating to Los Angeles, and later to Newport Beach in 1972, where its corporate headquarters reside today.
