HORSHAM, Pa. –The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual) is delighted to announce that chairman and CEO and chairman Eileen McDonnell, representing Penn Mutual, was the recipient of the 2017 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Greater Philadelphia award. McDonnell and the company took top honors in the “Transformational” category, and was recognized along with other regional leaders across varying categories.
The EY Entrepreneur of the Year regional award is an annual accolade that distinguishes exceptional leaders across industries such as financial services, technology, retail and consumer products, and more.
The award was presented to McDonnell as a result of the innovative decisions that have put Penn Mutual on a growth trajectory and has helped the company gain entry into the Fortune 1000 for the first time in its history, increase its brand awareness and modernize its business. Through initiatives and corporate efforts overseen by McDonnell, Penn Mutual continues to expand and remain a national competitive force among life insurance companies. While the company may be 170 years old, it is their innovative culture and dedication to policyholders that allows them to excel, and continue to have strong growth plans in place.
In her acceptance speech, McDonnell thanked EY and the selection committee for recognizing a “170- year young organization” for its innovative leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. She credited the “incredible team” at Penn Mutual for delivering sustained excellence. According to McDonnell, “Our vision is to be a leader in life insurance, enhance our adviser support, deliver great value to our policyholders and operate in a values-driven organization, which are all drivers of our success. Our work today is laying the foundation for the next 170 years!”
McDonnell, and the additional class of 2017 winners, were revealed during a gala held on June 7 at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia. McDonnell was selected by a panel of judges comprised of former winners, regional business leaders and CEOs of companies with a national presence.
All regional winners will also be eligible for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year National program, which will be announced in November.
