Insurance Forums Staff

Bestselling business author Daniel Pink, legendary NFL quarterback Joe Montana, Moneyball’s Billy Beane, and Newlywed Game host Bob Eubanks are among the big names headlining events at NAILBA 41 set for Dallas in November.

The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA, a Finseca Community) just announced the full main stage speaker lineup for its 41st annual meeting. For over 40 years, NAILBA has assembled the principals and senior management of the leading independent life insurance brokerage agencies for networking, demonstrations, and sharing of business knowledge. NAILBA’s annual meeting is revered as the most valuable event for the brokerage market. NAILBA 41 will take place November 14-16, 2022 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center.

“Our team and Board have worked incredibly hard to produce one of NAILBA’s best programs to date,” said NAILBA CEO, Dan LaBert. “We look forward to connecting with our members and peers to advance independent brokerage and motivate ourselves for the coming year.”

Here’s a closer look at some of the headlining keynote speakers scheduled to appear.

  • Pamela Barnum: Former undercover police officer and federal prosecuting attorney; trust strategist; nonverbal communication expert (sponsored by Pacific Life Insurance Company)

Imagine what it would be like to live as a different person with a different name, identity, and background. For months at a time, you’re living with a false identity, and your success depends on building trust and detecting deception with some of the most dangerous people imaginable. That’s precisely what Pamela Barnum did for years working undercover in the Drug Enforcement Section. She learned real-world techniques for building trust and interpreting body language. Following a successful 20-year career in the criminal justice system, Barnum studied corporate negotiations in graduate school. Now, she shares her expertise with others, teaching them how to improve their communication skills to increase trust inside corporations, associations, and law enforcement agencies. As a body language expert and trust strategist, she delivers techniques once thought of like a “secret second language” that participants can begin using immediately.

  • Billy Beane: Executive VP of Baseball Operations for the Oakland A’s and subject of “Moneyball” (sponsored by Transamerica)

Beane has molded the Oakland A’s into one of baseball’s most consistent winners since taking over as General Manager following the 1997 season. Beane shattered traditional MLB beliefs that high payrolls equated wins by implementing a data-driven methodology that led the Oakland A’s, with one of the lowest payrolls in Major League Baseball, to 7 AL West Division titles and 10 playoff appearances. That strategic methodology has come to be known as the “Moneyball” philosophy, named for the best-selling book and Oscar-nominated film chronicling Beane’s journey from General Manager to hero to celebrated management genius. Beane is a four-time Major League Baseball “Executive of the Year” award winner and was named by Forbes as one of the “100 Greatest Living Business Minds.”

  • Joe Montana: Four-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback (sponsored by John Hancock Insurance)

Along with being one of the best quarterbacks of all time, Joe Montana is arguably the most popular sports figure in San Francisco history. Currently Montana holds postseason records for most career touchdown passes and games with a passer rating over 100. He also ranks second in postseason passing yards with 5,772. His 83 Super Bowl pass completions and 122 pass attempts without an interception also tops all-time. The once thought undersized quarterback turned out to be one of the great ones, earning the No. 4 spot on NFL.com’s Top 100 Players of All Time and induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Since his retirement, he’s been a valuable brand ambassador for companies like Skechers, Kraft Foods, TiVo and Disneyland, and has also become one of the most sought-after motivational speakers on the circuit.

  • Daniel Pink: #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of “The Power of Regret,” “When,” “To Sell is Human,” “Drive,” and “A Whole New Mind” (sponsored by AIG)

A deep researcher and compelling communicator, Daniel Pink is one of the foremost business minds of our day. He is the author of seven books on business, work, creativity, and behavior including The New York Times bestsellers “The Power of Regret,” “When,” “A Whole New Mind,” “Drive” and “To Sell is Human.” Pink’s newest book “The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward” (February 2022) explores how people can enlist their regrets to make smarter decisions, perform better, and deepen their sense of meaning and purpose. It has been named one of the best books of 2022 by NPR, The Financial Times, Amazon, and Apple Books.

The NAILBA Rockstar entertainment event on Nov. 15 features the Thomas Ian Nicholas Band, sponsored by Retirement Genius.

Thomas Ian Nicholas began his acting career on “Who’s the Boss?” playing a young Tony Danza. At age 12, Nicholas embarked on a series of feature films that would shape his young adult career, including “Rookie of the Year” and “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court.” By 18, he had recurring roles on hit TV shows like “Party of Five” and the role of “Kevin Myers” in the extremely successful “American Pie” movie franchise. Over the last 10 years, Thomas Ian Nicholas Band has played over 700 concerts in 12 countries from huge festivals to solo acoustic shows in intimate clubs and private charity fundraisers. Musically, Thom draws on a solid crop of influences from Switchfoot to John Mayer that have helped him learn the art of writing a pop song while keeping a foot in rock and roll.

The Douglas Mooers Award for Excellence Dinner on Nov. 16 (sponsored by MassMutual and North American) will feature “Backstage with the Beatles” with Bob Eubanks.

You probably know Bob as the host of “The Newlywed Game” and as the co-host of the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day for nearly 38 years. What audiences may be surprised to learn is that Bob is the only living person to have produced and financed a Beatles concert all three years they toured America! Audiences rave about his behind-the-scenes stories. Bob’s fascinating, funny, one-of-a-kind show features live music by Ticket to Ride, a talented Beatles tribute band.
