Penn Mutual sponsoring Facebook-based contest for Life Insurance Awareness Month

“Imagine the Possibilities” is the name of a Facebook contest just announced by The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company as part ofLife Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM). The contest asks consumers to submit a story about how life insurance has made a significant impact on their life. The contest welcomes stories of how a beneficiary was able to imagine and attain their life’s dreams because their loved one had a plan in place for the unexpected, or how the cash value from a permanent life insurance policy helped a person during their lifetime. The best story will be recognized with a $5,000 donation to a charity of the winner’s choice.

Anyone can enter by visiting Penn Mutual’s Facebook page, completing the entry form and submitting a story about how life insurance has made a meaningful impact on their life. Finalists will be selected from all eligible entries and one winner will be chosen for the grand prize. The contest runs from Aug. 15 to Sept. 30, 2014.

Penn Mutual is sponsoring the contest in conjunction with Life Insurance Awareness Month in September, to promote the possibilities that life insurance can provide a person during a lifetime.

“At Penn Mutual, we believe that life insurance should be the center of every financial plan and Life Insurance Awareness Month provides an opportunity to recognize the important role life insurance plays in protecting, as well as opening, life’s possibilities,” said Penn Mutual Senior Vice President Denise Flannery. “If a beneficiary was able to go to college because of their loved one’s plan, or a person used their cash value to achieve a dream, please share that story. It’s why we believe in the promises we offer consumers.”

Life Happens, formerly known as the LIFE Foundation, offers a variety of resources to help life insurance professionals create awareness of the need for coverage during the month of September. Former NFL quarterback and current NFL analyst Boomer Esiason is back for the second straight year as the celebrity spokesperson for LIAM.

Esiason raised his own profile a bit this week with some harsh words for Cleveland Browns rookie QB Johnny Manziel. Having his name a little more top-of-mind can only enhance his effectiveness as the LIAM spokesperson.

“When a parent dies and there’s no life insurance, life becomes very tough, very fast. My dad, two sister and I experienced that financial hardship firsthand when my mom died when I was just 7,” says Boomer. And that’s the message he’ll be sharing with the American public through his national TV and radio public service announcements.
