This seems to be the answer:

America's Business Benefit Association is a non-profit organization comprised of individuals working at small businesses, the self-employed and their families. This nationwide association empowers the individual member with the clout and protection of a large organization.
America's Business Benefit Association members have the opportunity to purchase insurance plans to add to the benefits they receive.
There is no ownership affiliation between America's Business Benefit Association and the insurance plan underwriters. For instance, is a member were to terminate insurance coverage with an endorsed carrier, ABBA membership would not be terminated unless requested of ABBA. Moreover, ABBA membership is not required to be eligible for health insurance program. Members may apply directly with the respective insurance plan underwriters.
A portion of your association dues may be paid to the insurance underwriter for administrative and billing services it provides to America's Business Benefit Association. The insurance underwriter does not receive any other compensation or sales or promotional fees from the Association. Sales representatives for the Association receive compensation from America's Business Benefit Association for promoting the Association.

ABBA: America's Business Benefit Association

Just from looking at the site I think this organization is strictly a way to sell health insurance probably only online.

I went to a chamber meeting last week for SOHO. Lots of marketing consultants, graphic designers, RE agents, hair salon gals... typical group of small biz people. There were about 50 in the room... maybe 5 insurance agents in the mix. We all get up to give a 30 second commercial before the lunch and speaker.

Afterward a guy... about 50... recently laid off from an engineering company... came up to me and said he had just joined this Assoc. thing and wanted to know what I thought about it.

I told him I'd not heard about it. I asked what insurance they sell (he had just gotten his license.) He said a company called Mega.

I told him THE REST (as Paul Harvey would say) of that story.

I told him to call me, we'd talk, and that maybe I'd bring him into my agency where he could get started selling quality products for 6 months or a year... before he goes off on his own.

He has not called me so I guess he is happy where he is. I'm sure Mega spins a better story about this biz than I can.

No mention of carriers as far as I can tell.

Just a gimmick.

Bob, you better make an appointment with your opthalmoligist----carriers are mention in the fine print. Independence American Insurance Company for the major med and United States Fire Insurance Company for the limited benefit plans. In addition, Madison National Life covers a package with term life, accident, disability, and critical illness. That package sounds loke the 360 plan mentioned in the forum quite a wahile baack.

Major carriers to say the least. Household names.

Just a cursory look, but guess having my eyes checked wouldn't hurt. Trying to read Alston's blog (from another thread) just about did me in.

360 is a piece of junk.

I am an agent that represents America's Business Benefits Association. I have been with the company for over two years now, and am very happy with my family and career I have made here.

It seems as if there's some confusion to our organization and what we do for the health insurance industry. I understand, and will admit as people mentioned, our website is a little vague. (I've been trying to get them to change it) We are a not for profit organization that groups about 100,000 members together nationwide under our association's umbrella, ABBA. By doing this, our members can never be singled out for rate increases based on individual claims or health classification. If any member were to get diagnosed with a fatal illness or begin making major claims, the risk gets spread against everyone, not just your family, business, demographic area, or plan type as nearly every other insurance plan out there will. Because of our large group buying power, we are also able to maintain certain levels of benefits and high standards for our members. Our clients receive:
-Guaranteed renewability. You will always have your coverage at a healthy individuals rate.
-On the job coverage, 24/7. This is a major exclusion in most polices due to Workers' Comp, and a big hole for any self employed individual, or 1099 contractor.
-Coverage in all 50 states, and 90 days outside of the US! Very few plans offer international coverage.
-Portability to any state without going through underwriting again. Many plans will cancel you when moving out of state, forcing you to re apply and any new conditions are now pre-existing.
-Flexibility to visit ANY DOCTOR! We work with over 500 independent networks, and will still pay any doctor out of network if needed.
-We require that our endorsed carriers maintain an A rating at all times. (By the way, we definitely DO NOT represent MEGA. Our primary one is Independence American)

Our members claims get paid very quickly. We are not the insurance company, and don't represent the insurance company in any way. It makes it a great set up for you, the client. By grouping through the association, you also get the benefit that if ever needed, your family and business has the backing of a nationwide association, generating hundreds of millions in revenue for endorsed insurance companies. If there is ever a claim that is not getting paid, and should be, we have a very strong voice and bargaining power with our endorsed carriers.

What makes us a not for profit, is the fact that our association helps families to pay their deductibles and save money. We have a program that is very similar to a few other companies out there, except it costs about 25% of the price of other similar plans. We put any unexpected stimulus on claim payouts right back into the product, and lowering costs more - not into the pockets of our board. We give families the opportunity to pay the premium of a $5k + deductible, but give them the coverage of a $250 deductible.

If you've spoken with another agent, please get back to them. If this is your first time hearing of our company, or you're researching it, feel free to call my cell. I'd be more than glad to show you what our association does, help you review your current policy, and am constantly networking my business with other insurance agents. Typically, I do meet with my clients face to face. Unless you're out of CO, or would rather go through underwriting via email, I feel it is the only way to conduct business.

Look forward to hearing from you.
