Hey, I just tried calling American General to do a simple risk assessment and they tell me that I can no longer call in to do that and it has to be through my imo and that this is across the board ? Is this really true ? You've got to be kidding me.

Just use "quick quotes" - better to get something in writing to submit with the app anyway. Ask your IMO for the QQ e-mail addresses.

I agree. Get the QQ email or call your IMO and have them call the underwriter direct for you if you can't wait on a reply. I will say that AG is not the best at replying to QQ's...Lincoln, Banner, and Pru seem to be pretty fast at replying though.

Can you guys clarify what QUICK QUOTES is?

Is it a system to get trial offers?

This is perfect timing for me and the Rheaumtoid Arthritis case I'm shopping.

Mick,
Quick quote email addresses are what carriers give to BGAs and IMOs to send info to get an underwriter to give them an idea of a rating on a case. Most carriers only give them to the IMO though. You should have a contact at your IMO who can "shop" it and figure out what carrier will be best.

Excellent.

This sounds perfect for the simplified issue R.A. case I'm on.

I'm spending too much time hunting down uw apps & guides. When I do, the end result is I need to "contact the carrier's underwriters to get a health rating."

**Question for the "life insurance veterans"

Is the Quick Quotes process something you implement immediately when you get a high risk case?

I'm trying to formulate my processes for high risk prospects.

MIM, we gotta get you away from national Brokerage. You should never spend your time on the phone with an UW of an Insurance company.

Do what Rootfinancial suggests!

It's not unreasonable to have your IMO do that for you. It's really not that hard for them to do (Full disclosure, I'm a brokerage manager at an IMO and I do it often)

I just send one email to 20 or so companies carriers quick quote emails and just wait for the responses to come back. The only downside is that some carriers take their sweet time responding. It might take a week or so to get all the answers back.

I also work for an IMO and shop about 20 cases per week, it is a vital tool when trying to pick a carrier. The more accurate info you send in your quick quote, the more accurate the response back will be.

Get a good general prescreening questionnaire and in case of a specific ailment get a condition specific questionnaire. Prudential's RX for success questionnaires are very helpful.

Good luck.
