I have only done email marketing to leads I've captured from my website or leads I've purchased.
I assume you are referring to email blasting cold. Never tried it, but it seems like a "shotgun approach" to marketing. I try to avoid things like this. If you do it, you want to make sure that the vendor follows all of the "Can Spam" regulations.

Yes can generate huge number of hits to your website, but must target the right market otherwise useless.

I have a good idea I have 2 daughters-in-law that click on it very often even though I tell them "Don't down load anything on my computer even your email!" said very slowly.
Do they listen? I spend more time trying to make my computer work right after they have been here than anything.

If you want to try it, good deal, but I personally try to spend all of my time marketing to "qualified" prospects. Everything else cost me more in the long run.
