Does having agency guidelines to not sell state min auto policies and mono lines discriminatory?

Trying to say we only sell 300k CSL and no monoline policies
And/or min. 2k for commercial side

Is this discriminatory if you hold this standard for every client/prospect?

Trying to weed out price shoppers and save time by letting people know right off the bat that if their looking for "cheapest" or shopping around, we wont waste time with you.

Many times, i the client will say i'm shopping around for the cheapest, send me your quote and i'll make a decision in 2 days. Can you just say no sorry we dont offer lowest bids policies.

You can tell them they don't fit your 'agency guidelines' and give them the phone number to your least favorite competitor down the street.

When people call us asking for state minimum policies I usually just give them a quote with higher coverages. Many people expect to pay much more for the higher coverages which is why they ask for low coverages. Once you explain the coverages you'll find that many will opt to go with higher limits. We can usually convince about half of the prospects to go with the higher coverages, much better than turning the prospects down before even giving them a quote.

My passive approach to lead annoying customers out the door is by offering them overpriced rates. That always works.

As long as you are not basing your decision not to serve them on race/color/gender/origin/religion/disability then you are fine to do what your doing.

Just like a lawyer or financial planner can pick and choose who he works with, so can we.
