As a New Agent I Really Don't Know How to Proceed with FE..

Guys I've been on this board for months and I just got my license last week. I've gone through so many posts and have learned the basics in terms of why you stay away from NAA or LH and others.

But honestly, what am I supposed to do? I mean yeah I clearly see why there is no long term possibilities with a company like LH but shouldn't I give them a go just for the training/experience alone?

I've done mortgages and phone sales for years and it has been a pretty long time since I have done in home sales (and it was nothing like insurance). I get that there are plenty of resources here and at other places like finalexpense101.com but all the knowledge in the world can't replace experience right?

Even if it is for a few weeks wouldn't it be beneficial for me to ride along with a LH guy and learn the ropes and do a few sales myself?

I'm going to get into med supps with Frank and have started that process but until that gets cranking I just feel like I am sitting around with nothing to do but read and learn. I have saved a ton of money so I can get into this business so quite honestly guys I am super bored. I want to get out there and start making money and gaining experience.

I think all the LH hate around here is justified, but what else am I supposed to do as a completely new guy to the industry?

It's funny you would ask that today. I was asked a similar question on a training call this morning and my response in a nutshell was that nothing beats experience. You will screw up in the beginning and you will miss sales that you make a year or two later.

No matter who you start with there is a cost of education.

Haha yeah I agree 100%. That's why I took everyone's advice and spent almost 6 months saving big time so I could have the financial stability I needed to get into this business.

Here I am, ready to go, and a bit lost on which direction to take lol. I know I want to be indy and I also know that LH is not a good place to be....but there is a local LH manager that is chomping at the bit to get me to sign on with him and offering me the chance to ride around with his "top guy" next week.

Yeah I know it's all smoke and mirrors but I will certainly gain some hands on experience at the very least.

If you want hands on experience, then just get set up with an IMO that offers it. I'm sure EFES or Securus has agents near you that could give you field training. At least with them you can offer your clients several better option than LH. Plus you'll have the opportunity to replace all those overpriced LH policies you come across!

We are always looking for good agents at EFES! We can really help since you are just starting out. We will take you through the motions and get you setup the right way. If you are looking for training & support then you should check it out....

It only took you 5 posts to start trolling for agents. Good job!

Edit....My mistake. All you have done here is troll for agents.

As much as I wish all of you sold LH, I don't understand what the appeal is with it for Newbs.

Why can't you find a local successful FE agent in your area to contract you with Monumental at 80% under him and train that way? You have a better product. You have the same commission PLUS some referals. He makes an over ride and has a vested interest in your success.

Why would LH be a more attractive option?

What area are you in? There are probably agents on this forum that could help.

I'm in Jacksonville, FL. Anybody want to take me under their wing ;)

Look for James Roman on the forum, his screen name is the GIMP, I believe he is in or around Jacksonville and can help get you contracted and going if you don't want to get on a leads program. (higher contracts, less leads and training If you do call EFES or Securus. One of Equitas regional managers is out of Tampa and has guys all over Florida.

I think it is because they mail so much there are always reasonably fresh leads without having to wait for 3 or 4 weeks, plus they contract anyone within a matter of days.
