I have a potential client that tells me that her agent told her Medicare will not pay for medical bills from an auto accident. Is this true?

Sort of. The car insurance should pay primary, once that's exhausted Medicare should be picking up.

I had this come up once before. My clients claim was directly related to the auto accident though.
Yeah, the annoying part was that our insurance company's (Farmers/Foremost) system was showing the auto claim open in one area but closed in another. Medicare wouldn't accept it that way. It was very difficult getting in touch with the right department of medicare to find out exactly what they needed.
Our client is a cool guy but I could tell he was getting really annoyed with the whole situation. He was going to have to reschedule his surgery for 8 months later if they didn't get it straightened out soon. They did though.

It's been years since I had this problem but I think the root of it was because of the way the doctor coded the claim.
