I have a potential client that tells me that her agent told her Medicare will not pay for medical bills from an auto accident. Is this true?:nah:

Sort of. The car insurance should pay primary, once that's exhausted Medicare should be picking up.

Depends. Who was at fault?
They will look for the auto carrier to be primary, but there may or may not be coverage with the carrier depending on many factors.

I had a client that needed reconstructive surgery un-related to his auto accident and Medicare wouldn't pay until his auto claim was closed.

Yeah, the annoying part was that our insurance company's (Farmers/Foremost) system was showing the auto claim open in one area but closed in another. Medicare wouldn't accept it that way. It was very difficult getting in touch with the right department of medicare to find out exactly what they needed.

Our client is a cool guy but I could tell he was getting really annoyed with the whole situation. He was going to have to reschedule his surgery for 8 months later if they didn't get it straightened out soon. They did though.

It's been years since I had this problem but I think the root of it was because of the way the doctor coded the claim.
