I have an independent agency in IL. I have the opportunity to take over(BOR) a sizable group health account.
The account is domiciled in Oklahoma, but has an operations in IL. I have a good relationship with the owner and she is willing to switch everything over to me. I have access to all the markets I need except:
The major medical portion is written with BCBS OK. I am unable to obtain a contract with BCBSOK and it would appear that BCBSOK does not work with general agencies as does BCBSIL. I have talked with a BCBSIL general agent and they are working on it, but have said that BCBSOK is not accepting new agents/contracts.
Rewriting it midterm is probably not an option.
Anybody have an idea?
Should I be calling brokers in OK with a BCBSOK contract? Anybody from OK with some advice?
