The bill has been gutted. Also will need to be passed by the house. Good luck with that. Most likely they can get it though the house too. No problem, just gut it some more.
Interestingly, they are apparently not going to have any Republicans vote for it in the Senate. Man ,that is going to be rough on the dems come election time. The republicans are just going to lay back and let them own the whole mess. You might pick up Snowe after it goes to the house and it gets amended and then needs to go back to the senate again but I doubt it. Some of these folks have been fiddled with enough and Collins and Snowe cannot be bought so that closes that option.
The dems line up to support the bill one week. Two weeks later they will start distancing themselves from it by supporting amendments so try to save their soul with the voters. It is going to be a mess for years to come but the socialist will just keep plugging in gaps that are not already owned by the feds.
What a lousy bill this is though, especially if you are a dem who really wanted something good.
Also, while all this has been going on, Obama got nowhere with his European buddies over in Copenhagen. He is losing his touch with libs.
