So I got a newer SUV (I like running people over) today and let me tell you, my local auto indy agents SUCK.

*** If you are easily offended, do not read any further****

I called 2 independent auto agents out of the phone book, both were Caribbean women , rude as hell.

Then I called State Farm, another Caribbean woman (yes, you guessed it---rude)...

Finally, I call Geico and get 2 nice edumacated hipsters to help me secure a new auto policy.

So, if your an agent who get's short with people over the phone and have an store front office with no A/C next to a tattoo parlor on Sunrise and Andrews in Fort Lickadale, screw you!

Remember that when you're calling national carriers those calls are all recorded. Having worked in a telemarketing call center (for a whopping 2 weeks) - managers either listen in or pull the calls to monitor their reps.

What makes you think auto is the only insurance that has this problem?

There are a lot of professional agents out there, whether its auto/home or life/health. There are a lot of great people on the other end of a call center.

At the same time, there are some real snobs in both worlds as well.

In this day and age the wonderful experiences are seldom shared with the world while the horrible experiences are shouted from the rooftops. I cannot attest for the Indies you dealt with but I can assure you that the State Farm agencies strive for excellence. I'm sure that if the rude behavior is a consistent practice at that SF office, they will not be employed there long. This is a problem throughout the industry, one bad apples spoils the bunch. We've all heard that before.

agree with health agent. "this call may be monitored for quality assurance" translates into the boss is looking over his/her shoulder. they have to sound nice whether they like it or not.
