Checking in to Learn

Hello all,

I stumbled across this forum last week, and thought it'd be interesting to see various agent's opinions and experiences in writing. I am a 26 year old 5 year staff member for State Farm. I am very strongly considering venturing out on my own, outside of my current company. As it stands at this moment, I will probably go Independent, but I am not certain as of yet. I have no capital to invest, so working on that, and researching just as much as possible while doing so.

I am still getting a feeling for the personalities on the boards, so please forgive me if I sit back and watch for a while, but just wanted to officially say hi to everyone.

I look forward to getting to know several of you, and participating as much as possible.

Thanks for a great resource for info.

Welcome to the forum!

If this is the case, I would wait on becoming a P/C agent, you need to be very well funded to start in that field.

Try Senior products, and if you still want to do P/C save up and you'll be on YER way.

That's the plan, which is why it's not happening now. I have too much research to do to jump out right now anyways. There are far too many options to arbitrarily choose a path. Luckily, my bills are so low that I could probably scrape by on 10 grand income if I needed to, so I'm just saving to get an office pieced together first.

Good start there with the low bills - lucky you! You must not have any kids!

Agreed, kids complicate it all. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that. I've lived my life keeping my overhead low, and plan to keep it that way.

I've got to say, the reading I've done so far on here is great. Of course, like any other hobby or business group, there is some trash to sort through, but it seems like a helpful hand full of people. Thanks in advance to you all! I am sure I will have plenty of questions, and happy to share from my experiences in the business thus far.
