Companies like McDonalds will drop their mini-med for over 40,000 workers and the gov't will end up subsidizing countless millions of dollars.

The HRA approval list is interesting, on or around Jan 1, if you look at the list, a TON of San Fran businesses applied for and were granted waivers. I believe that was a topic of discussion earlier on this forum. Way to go Nancy!

Many of those folks will qualify for Medicaid under expanded rules in 2014.
 
Barely. 133% of FPL for a single person is $14,484. $7.50/hr is $15,600.

However, if that person has a family 2 it's $19,564 or for 3 it's $24,645.

For for hourly workers who are single parents come 2014, it's right into Medicaid. If you want to work it backward, any full-time worker who's a single parent earning under $9.50 per hour in 2014 qualifies for Medicaid.

Two things about this:

1. Under the McD's scenario, since they employ more than 50, won't they have to provide coverage to all with a similar reimbursement rate for coverage? Seems like an ideal candidate to drop coverage for all ...

2. IL is not going to have many new people added to the Medicare rosters, but they did it inadvertently by making the state minimum wage almost high enough to make 133% of FPL.
