My IMO for BCBS said if our client calls healthcare.gov withot us and changes plan on the exchange we will still be listed as the agent on the new plan regardless that we wern't on the plan with them.

When I called Blue Cross directly the lady told me the opposite of what my IMO told me but she didn't sound sure in her answer.

Who is correct?

Did you ever get a final authoritative response to this question, Sam?

Compared to some other companies, Blue Cross's agent resources are rather subdued. Not a lot of employee training on agent matters.

I tried to reach the commission department, but they were not available today. Probably because this is the busiest time of the month for them.

No my rep will call me back tomorrow I will let you know.

Sam,
When you get him/her on the phone, ask why BCBS-IL does not pay renewal commission calculated on the current month's premium, like BCBS-TX does, even though we're sister companies. This seemingly trivial detail amounts to thousands of $dollars$ in lost income every year.

My guess is...

1. Are you SURE? We do every thing the same
2. Its state law
3. Stop complaining. We didn't do the massive terminations Texas did. ;)

One of those.

If a client calls healthcare.gov and switches from one BCBS to another BCBS you will not be listed as the agent. You will have to an agent assignment form if you want to be linked to that policy.

However if they call blue cross direct and make a change you will be still listed.

But, if your pre-2014 BCBSIL client goes online and purchases a new 2015 plan, you will NOT be listed as agent on the 2015 plan.

Gotta use the Open Enrollment form (same one as last OE) to be the agent. At least, that's what I think I read in a recent BCBSIL newsletter. So many of them recently...
