You still have to be approved by the companies beforehand and is usually a pre-req before closing on the sale.

Though to be fair a lot of companies will give out the appointment if you are somewhat knowledgeable, experienced, and promise to grow the book.

If not, threaten to roll the clients over to another company? I haven't seen that happen but I assume it could work.

I have seen local agencies being bought out, and were able to keep their markets.

If the book is big enough, they dont want to loose the business
