Here's a technical question!

So i just have an account named insured XYZ OK BAR LOUNGE INC. But on their sign it says XYZ EXTREME BAR (the biggest wording out of all other words)

then on the bottom right corner it says XYZ BAR LOUNGE then on top of the building it says XYZ OK.

the business is xyz ok bar lounge inc. and there is no dba filed at all. the reason for all those names according to the owner is they wanted to change corp names but never finish the paper work.

now do the insurance is asking for dba on the application with (name on door or sign), does this matter if its not really registered as a dba. The name is just there. And on top of that it has 3 different versions of the name all over the place.

On paper there is only XYZ OK BAR LOUNGE INC.

do you just put the paper name, or do you just put whatever the sign says?

does this effects coverage?

whatever their true business entity name is should be the named insured. Otherwise if there is a claim the carrier might try to not pay out cause of it.

The DBA I don't believe will affect it as long as you have the correct named insured

yeah just that USLI i go thru a GA because they have appointment freeze... i call USLI they told me to talk to GA, GA doesnt really know. But it just said put the name on the sign for DBA.

I've never been asked to prove a DBA filing, but I'd have them register all of the misc DBA's. Put the insurance in the legal business name (which sounds like a sole proprietor anyway). List all of the DBA's. There is usually a slot for them.

We use USLI. They are amazingly easy to do business with and you will be amazed with some of the stuff that you'll be able to get a quote for right over the phone.

I love USLI!!!!
They will take a lot of relatively low level risks that other companies shy away from and they are ultra competitive doing it. They are one of the few true no-hassle companies to work with.

I think omitting DBAs from an app is risky. Unless you have written confirmation from your underwriter that DBAs do not need to be listed, I would add everything that could even remotely be considered a DBA, like the name on the sign. If somebody slips in front of it, who do you think they're going to sue?

I agree with the others on here....list the official business name and then all others as aka (otherwise known as). Or, you could list the owner's actual name d/b/a the official name aka any other names. But, I would definitely cover all your bases with this in case he is ever sued, then there would be no question that the business would be covered.
