I looked back at some of the posts regarding writing MAPD's through the mail and saw lengthy posts about other companies but didn't see anything about Humana?

Can you mail out the info to potential Humana MAPD's and PPO plans?

Thanks in advance

I have. But I don't send out an application. Once we've reviewed everything over the phone and they wish to proceed, we simply do a 3 way call to complete the enrollment application with Humana. It's really an easy process.

The few Humana plans I've written this year were entered on the agent site and confirmed via email/link to the applicant.

So to answer the question, "No, a face to face is not required."

Thanks Sman......have you written any of the PPO plans through Humana or are you writing the Humana Gold Choice?

I've only written the zero premium PPO where the members doctors are part of the network. The GoldChoice plans here are not competitive at all.

Sman....on the PPO plan under the vision can the members see any doctor for the annual eye exam and the $ 100 credit each year for glasses or contacts? It seems like I read that they can see anyone for those services.

Dental it sounds like they have to use in-network

I know that here in N. Texas a Humana PPO member cannot use the Wal-Mart Vision center. They do have coverage at some major outlets (JC Penney, Costco, etc).

According to the Humana PPO brochure, you can use any vision provider in or out of the network and still get the $ 0 copay for one annual routine eye exam and $100 each year towards glasses or contacts. For disease of the eye, like cataracts, you do need to see an in network provider for the lower copays.

It sounds like the Wal Mart vision center would be covered mcday for the annual exam and $100....unless TX has different rules on the PPO. You might want to call.
