Can I sub code with an agent that has encompass until i get 500k in ap? they seem to be kicking everybodies butt in my state on auto (alabama). not even sure if other agents are willing to do this... if it's a dumb question, i want to thank rba in advance for being hostile.

Re: Encompass

I wont be hostile unless its a pointless or dumb question........

But are they requiring your entire agency to have 500,000 in GWP or that much to send them???

Now you do know, if you sub under someone, those policies would only slowly trickle into your agency on renewals right.....

Re: Encompass

that's what they told me. i wasn't sure how it would work with another agent. i can compete if they do home/auto together. i guess i'm just impatient and feel like i'm letting money go out the door.

Re: Encompass

ok, so why not look into SIAA or another cluster?

Re: Encompass

i haven't seen a cluster that used encompass. i'll check it out

Re: Encompass

My SIAA has Encompass, Seems to me, that would be a National Account

now they are sayin 1 million. sounding more like allstate every day. maybe its a good thing

they are telling you that they want you to have 1m in gross premium before they give you a direct appointment? that is by far the highest amount required that I have heard of. when I 1st went independent I had a p/c personal book of 1.5m (captive) and I was able to move around 250k to each of my top 5 carriers within 1.5 years. I never had a carrier ask for that much in premium. I don't know what is going on in your state other than maybe they are not appointing new agencies and will only appoint one that has a substantial amount committed. I know that over the last 2-3 years I have heard from newer agents inquiring about joining my agency due to having a harder time getting a direct appointment. maybe another sign of a hard market. In my experience most preferred carriers will be ok with production if your loss ratios are good and your volume is over 300k (at least in my state).

i think the person i have been corresponding with is new and doesn't really care. i'm over it anyway. i'll just crush them in my area with someone else.

nothing going on with auto in alabama. its one of the most profitable states in the country for auto
