To those who have been with Equita would you advise me to pay for my own leads with higher comp or take the lower comp and still pay a portion of the leads but have a consistent flow of leads in each in every week? Your help is appreciated!

I have been with efes for a year and a half and I would definitely take the lead flow with a little less comp

One thing to consider if you are new is you don't know how the area you are going to work will respond to direct mail so let them take the risk. If the area gets a good response and you feel comfortable doing it make the change and do your owning mailing with higher commissions. But I would start out letting them do it and get the ball rolling, get experience first. If the area you have them mail bombs, you can try different areas on their dime until you find some that work. Plus you don't need the distraction of doing mailings when you are trying to learn products and how to close the sales.

If you don't need leads then take the higher commission. If you need leads then the question is answered for you.

Just curious, is that because of your comfort level just not being high enough to pay for your own leads up front? Seems to me that over time you would be making much more money.. (assuming that you were able to generate sufficient leads on your own) Also, wouldn't you be giving up a good percentage of commission on self generated sales if you were on a 80% contract with a company like efes? I don't know the % you get with efes, but I'm guessing it's not 100%.

Anyway, I'm just curious because I'm new at this myself and trying to figure it all out... The plus for me is that I have plenty of $ to carry myself until I get it figured out :-)

I am not with EFES but my understanding from what I have seen on the forum is you get two produciotn numbers with them.. One for business that is secured through the use of thier leads and then one with a higher commission rate for self-generated business.. So in a way, an agent that wants their leads can get the best of both worlds..

Jaxfl,to answer your question. my comfort level is quite high primarily because i know every Saturday morning i am going to wake up with 25-30 fresh leads of which a little over a third of those will become customers. You mentioned a 80% contract I don't know where you got that number but mine started quite a bit higher than that and was raised in the first few months. Production talks and is rewarded my present comps are higher than your guesses. you are fortunate to have some financial reserve to get started with and will go through it rapidly trying to reinvent the wheel. my suggestion is go with a proven program that will get you up to speed quickly. just my 2 cents worth. good luck at what ever you decide JJ
