U/W seems to be tougher than the old product and certain conditions like COPD for non smkr, which used to be issued at pref rates are now Std rate. This makes them not competitive on price in those cases. I've also run into other issues where a combination of health issues made the case a Protector III, which based on the situation was ridiculous IMO. Those same cases were issued at immediate benefit by other companies. So frankly I don't see the fit for them any longer. They are not among the price leaders in any situation and have lost their specific competitive advantage in certain situations; too bad.
Equitable is a nice company to deal with... very agent friendly, but you can't give up price or benefits for your client, solely for that benefit.
