My name is Dianne. I am back in the states for the past 3-1/2 yrs after living in South Africa for seven. Been working as a Customer Service Rep / Marketing Assistant and now sitting exams for P&C and L&H. Been approached by NAA and want to know more about *that* (been hearing a lot of negatives).

Easily have learned software from several companies. Interested in brokerage and advanced financial planner classes as I learn and earn. Where best to start? What companies are best to start with?

I know the industry is in flux with all of the current economic problems. I LIKE helping people. Not a rip-off artist. Want to make an honest living in the best way to help people, retain clients, get referrals and find the best way to obtain new leads (honest ones).

I am a HARD worker. Owned my own company, employed other people. The hardest work I EVER did was volunteer work in SA with AIDS orphans and street children. If I could do that, I can do anything.

Looking for mentors. Looking for people who want someone to work for them with the highest integrity, honesty and ability to help attain clients.

Hobbies? Writing, reading, exercise (used to teach aerobics), volunteer work, church, learning new things, learning to sell, proud to have had a granny who lived through the Depression and helped raise me (especially in this day and age), love socializing. LOVE people who are passionate about something. Humor (smiling), knowing Las Vegas (former sysop on Compuserve w/Las Vegas and Comedy Central forums). Personality profile: Negotiator. Goal in life: to help, to serve, to make money doing something I love and I have learned that I love insurance.

And you?

Peace,

Nice intro...welcome to the forum.

I noticed in your NAA post you wanted to know WHO to start with. Based on your background I'd say the WHO is YOU. Several factors need to be taken into account in deciding what market niche you should start with/transition to. Once you establish what your niche is you'll want to find an IMO/FMO/MGA/GA that can provide you access to the product mix that you need as well as the training and support to get your business off the ground.

You'll find a ton of info when you start searching for additional info in some of the old threads.

Oh dear, I hope not too "checkered!" I've left off the 15 years of Federal service and five years of newspapers. This was a strange time to come back to the U.S. After doing volunteer work in SA, I decided to train in skincare (did NOT do my homework), only to find that in the Vegas area, it is a vastly overtrained career. Moved on to enhancing my computer skills when the recession hit and all I could find was telemarketing which got me the current job with Allstate. How did you all get started?
