Good Standard Line P&C MGA for Commercial for NC and East Coast

Hey guys,

I am looking for an MGA that does standard lines (already have one for E&S) for commercial and maybe a little personal lines P&C. I have one or two commercial appointments but I would like to have some more and the MGA I currently have I might switch from for some non-performance reasons.

I'd like one that can do business in AT LEAST NC but preferably NC, SC, and VA.

Any recommendations on who to use? I was given extremely nice advise from RBA via PM but a lot of it is only good for west coast after looking at his recommendations. I'd like to see if I can get something similar for the east coast.

Did you ever find one? I ended up with Agent Secure after trying Noodle and Superior. In my state there are not many options for standard package policies anymore.

No I am still waiting on a response for some other ones. I have one now but I'm looking for some additional carriers as well, and I'm just rubbed the wrong way by the MGA.

One of my biggest problems is the standard home/auto packages as the MGAs typically only have Safeco or Travelers.
Their fine but Travelers quit homes through the MGA platform in SC leaving me with only Safeco for packages. I would love to team up with another agent to kick stuff back and forth if they have some better access.

Safeco is honestly one of your best companies to use in SC. I use Kemper there as well and a few other companies like Encompass. I think Safeco does the best though in the state from my experience. The exception to this is if you are in a coastal area.

(I do business in NC, SC, VA, and GA right now with a touch of MD and TN)

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'm not complaining I'm just paranoid they are going to yank the access at some point leaving me with no where to go. I like to have a back up plan. any thoughts on how to access Kemper or Ecompass?

I think Kemper is a part of Smart Choice in SC if I recall, Encompass might be as well. To be honest with you, if you are worried about losing a carrier right now maybe now isn't the time to go looking for another one?

EDIT: i see you are doing this through an MGA. When you get to 20 posts, talk with me. Do you currently have any carriers direct or though a cluster?

Hello, I have a few that have no production requirements for auto or specialty homes. MGA gives the rest which was what I was referring too. I spoke to the SmrtChce folks and as good as it sounded I don't like the idea of basically working for someone else. I would love a few other package options just in case but I've seen the needling unfold when your yoked up to a carrier and that is not for me. A cluster arrangement might b e a better fit for me.

Who is this MGA if you don't mind me asking?

You're going to work for someone else somehow. Either as a producer before going agent for an independent agency, or being a part of a cluster.

Agent Secure is the one I use the most. I also have Noodle. I did have Superior Access at one point but left them. Technically, there is a small production requirement with some of them. The others are auto carriers like Progressive which I love!
