honestly man those farmers, allstate, and state farm agent non competes will not stand up in court... they are boarder line illegal

Your non-compete shouldn't be a big deal. The only thing it prevents you from doing is directly marketing to your existing clients. So don't go chasing them down. Moving your own and any family insurance they won't go after. And if you move a few of your good clients that insist, they'll probably still leave you alone. It's when you start marketing to all of them and trying to move them all that they'll clobber you. So just write new people until your non-compete expires.

Here's a thought... If you have people that REALLY want to move to you sooner than that, have them move their insurance to a company like Geico or Progressive or one of the other direct companies for.... <shrug> a month or two? Then steal them from that company...

You won't be able to get an appointment with Foremost until your non-compete expires since Farmers owns them. But who cares? Get appointed with American Modern or somebody like that if you really need to be able to work with that market. The funny thing when I left Farmers was that I was able to write with Zurich right away, who owns Farmers.

That is some great advice! Well it turns out that since I didn't write any foremost business while I was appointed with farmers all I had to do is ask the distric manager's manager to 'release' me from that part of the noncompete and I guess he's going to do it....I'll keep u guys updated
