Grandfathered Plans - What Are You Doing for Your Renewals?

With some group renewals coming up in the next month, most with rate increases, I'm curious what other agents are doing with renewals because of "grandfather status" in HCR.

I realize that they will lose grandfathered status if I move their plan to a lower priced one...but if they don't go to a lower priced plan they will cancel....so from what I can see, its a rock and a hard place.

Either move them and lose grandfathered status or they cancel...

Nobody I have been able to talk to, including my carrier, is clear on what grandfathered status is in the first place or how it will effect things down the road...one carrier told me all the plans are changing anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Thoughts on this? What are you doing with your group renewals coming up....

If Congress, the White House and HHS don't have the answer why would you expect carriers to know?

This bill was thrown together and no one up there knew what they were doing or how it would impact the current system. As we move forward there are going to be a lot of angry voters and taxpayers once they realize how badly they have been screwed.
