Hello, I have been a lurker here for awhile and I thought I would introduce myself. I am currently studying for my KS life and health license. I actually began studying almost a year ago but due to family issues I had to put it on hold. Now I am back at it full force. I have questions that I hope no one minds answering or pointing me in the right direction. I know I have a lot to learn and need guidance from a good mentor. Where do I look to find someone locally? I am wanting to go the independent route with my sales career simply because I am also a mother of a small child and cannot be out in an office all day. I would like to be able to call leads from home and then use evenings and weekends for appointments. Does this sound realistic?

I love this forum and have learned so much already. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Finding a mentor is not easy. Find out what insurance organizations exist locally. Talk to their leadership, attend the meetings, and see who you can meet. Also contact and consult with some of the seasoned agents on this site.

It certainly is realistic. You do need a mentor. Generally speaking a mentor close to you are good way to go. The remote mentor can do certain training to you but visit you and go to the field with you is very important for a beginer sales rep.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and for the pm's. I appreciate it!
