Guardian the Subject of Recent Controversy

I ran across this tonight, seems like Guardian has done a good job of keeping this out of the press.

"On October 14th, 2009 the Washington Times reported the company cancelled all policies offering unlimited home nursing in effect in New York state when claims became too expensive. Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported on 6 November 2009 that faced with adverse publicity, the company apologized and reversed the decision."

Here's a link to the Washington Times article: Washington Times - Insurer ends health program rather than pay out big

Are you sure they reversed this? it was old medical plan that had a nursing home provision, something not sold anymore. The family has had a wonderful benefit for many years(decades), receiving far far more in benefit than paid in. There are less than 500 people in the plan as it was no longer price competitive and new people stopped buying it. Guardian didn't have a market for it anymore, so it closed the product out in NY and other states. Happens all the time NYL used to have EPI which was a rich benefit health plan, they stopped selling it too. They did so in a manner compliant with NY state insurance laws.

Please show any link saying they relented.
