Hello Fellow Buckeyes!!

Hello Everyone in this forum and especially fellow Buckeyes. My name is Justin Bilyj, and I have been in insurance for a little over two years, I am third generation. I have been recently certified for L&H and I am looking for a job in the Cleveland Area and hopefully a mentor.
I just want to tell everyone how helpful this site is, the humor, the keen insight, and the wealth of knowledge makes me feel grateful that I stumbled upon this site. Ever since I have last week, I have been glued to it, making my own notes, and envisioning my future success and wealth.
I would appreciate any advice, direction, employment and/or humor.
Thankyou
Justin

Welcome Justin. I got your email and sent you a quick note.

I wish you the best of luck. There should be plenty of good agencies in the Cleveland area. Hopefully, one of them can help you...and the Browns as well.

Welcome Justin, I am in Columbus,Ohio and I'm also a new agent.I have been reading the post's on here for a little while now, and find them very informative.I have my P & C, and Health lic. And am getting my Life soon. I too would appreciate in advice or mentoring I can get here. Good Luck

Thanks for the large type, Justin. It's easy on these old eyes. BTW, WTF is a Buckeye? Seriously, is it a fruit or vegetable---or bigger than breadbox and why are Ohioans (sp) called Buckeyes? Although I have heard that Ed a/k/a Chumps has been called by some other choice sobriquets.

"Sobriquets"

I have to admit, that I had to look that one up.

But, the usage appears to be correct, so you win a free Cole Hamels autographed sweater.

Thanks Ed, but you didn't answer my serious query about Buckeyes. BTW, I sure could use that sweater! Not any snow to speak of here (total of 2.5 inches so far this winter), but cold right now, brrrr!

Arn...The buckeye is a small dark brown nut.

"The first recorded use of the term Buckeye to refer to a resident of the area was in 1788, some 15 years before Ohio became a state. Col. Ebenezer Sproat, a 6'4" man of large girth and swashbuckling mannerisms, led the legal delegation at the first court session of the Northwest Territory in Marietta. The Indians in attendance greeted him with shouts of "Hetuck, Hetuck" (the Indian word for buckeye), it is said because they were impressed by his stature and manner. He proudly carried the Buckeye nickname for the rest of his life and it gradually spread to his companions and to other local settlers. By the 1830s, writers were commonly referring to locals as "Buckeyes." "

Today..many Ohioans refer to Ohio State's football team as the "Suckeyes."
