Hello from KY

Greetings everyone! My name is Thomas Estes and I have recently just graduated college in May 2010 from Western Kentucky University. After graduating I knew I wanted to go into sales but just didn't know what area. My oldest brother was working for Humana at the time and introduced me into the insurance world particulary employee benefits. He had a great relationship with Higgins Insurance down in Hopkinsville, KY which is only about an hour from where I was living at so I went down there to introduce myself and after going through the interview process I was hired as a producer to specialize in employee benefits. When I first started I had to go through all the classes to get licensed in all 4 lines of business and then was sent up to Madison, WI to go through a 2 week training program put on by the National Alliance which was an amazing especially for someone as green as I am. I am so glad I found this forum because I think it can be of great use to me and am looking forward to talking to everyone. I hope everyone had a great new year and that 2011 brings joy and happiness to all!

Good to hear that you got hired being completely green at insurance. I was that lucky at that age, got rejected immediately, due to lack of experience.

Well this particular agency thought a lot of my oldest brother as he was their Humana rep at the time so that is what got my foot in the door. It was then in my hands to get through the interview process successfully. After getting hired they invested a lot of money in me to get me licensed send me up to WI for two weeks to the National Alliance training program. I feel very blessed that I got the position and couldn't be happier anywhere else I feel. Now it's just time to shine and show them that I was well worth their investment!

Well after reading several pages of the thread I was very surprised to see so many people against the NAA. I am still reading through the thread to try to understand more about it.

Let us know what you think after you read this thread.
