Hello from Minnesota

I am a licensed L&H ex-agent from Minnesota. I worked as a captive agent for 6 months with Bankers Life & Casualty out of an office in Iowa. I am currently licensed in MN & IA. After realizing that making a "six figure income in the first year" was not going to happen, or nothing close, I left and returned to a 8 to 5 job with a salary. I am considering being an independant agent and working part time in my off hours at night and weekends. I would like some advise if this is possible, what companies should I contact for appointments, anything else I should be considering? Thanks for any help.
