Eastern MT is pretty desolate, especially south eastern. Western Mid to Western is unspeakably gorgeous!

I spent much of my childhood in Montana! I just returned from there last week (a family funeral, unfortunately). The winters are bitter, but the summers are gorgeous. Yes, the western & central section are breathtaking, but there's also a calm beauty to hundreds of miles of unbroken farm and ranch land in the eastern portion.
