Hello from PA

Hello everyone. I'm a new member to the forum, but been reading the posts for a few months now. I like that I been reading so I decide to join in. Hopefully, I will be able to help at some point. I've been in the business about 7 years.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum! We are glad to have you join us.

Hello.....I'm fairly new to Insurance Sales and brand new to this site. I work exclusively in the Senior Market (Evercare/UHC) as a lead generator. I'm licensed but am a salaried employee and focus my time on generating leads. We have independent agents who then sell. I would like to (eventually) work for myself or within a small firm. I just wanted some basic thoughts on what's the best opportunity to make the most money? I know this may sound like a silly question and assume the answer is to have the biggest client base and be licensed to sell multiple products (life, health, etc.) but want some pointers as I'm pretty new to this game. Thanks

Pa_producer,

What part of PA are you from? If we are close, perhaps we could grab a coffee sometime. However, for now I put must of my business with one company if possible. It will dive up my bonus each year and it allows me to give the client better service. Not all companies are going to be fit for every client, so other appointments are a must.

Pa_producer,

I'm in Harrisburg and I believe you should be able to do well in your area. You should be able to find many different organizations and study groups.

What's a study group? Also, (another random question) what is more lucrative- Health or Life? Any thoughts? Sorry to be jumping around on topics but I figured these would be of interest to most fo us.

It's going to depend a lot on how the new legislation changes. Health has been a very lucrative market based off the ease of the sale and ability to market but things are changing. If you're looking to work with an organization, odds are the only way you'll make more money than a salaried rep at UHC is by either working at least 55 hours a week in the field, or working 35 hours a week in the field and spending another twenty training and recruiting to grow a team of producers.

Have you talked to any GA's or FMO's yet? You may not feel comfortable answering this hear, but why would you want to leave UHC?

Chumps from Oxford, I'm real close to your parents, I'm off of Union Deposit. Also, I assume that you are now in Ohio? Which I was just in Cincinnati a few weeks ago and drive home on a day that a snow storm hit. I'm a GA with Ohio National and head out that way once in awhile. Let me know the next time you are in the area.
