Hi Folks,

My name is Joe, and I'm Life Competitive Intelligence for Sun Life. After many years of supporting producer groups (from locally based agents with small client bases to high-end botique shops who insure foreign risks with ties to the U.S), I've jumped to the other side of the fence I guess you could say.

Although I'm based in MA, I have significant ties to the Tampa Bay FL area. I wanted to join this forum in order to see what's going on in the field, and also to maybe offer some help/perspective for what goes on, on the OTHER side... In addition to Sun, I've worked for MONY and MET, so I've been inherently involved on both sides. I've seen cases from all sides, pretty much know what flies, what doesn't, why this or that got shot down, how the home office looks at things, etc., etc., etc...

I don't follow life carriers much any more. With mergers, takeovers (foreign & domestic), etc. it is hard to figure out the players without a score card.

So I will go out on a limb and assume you are with Sun Life of Canada.

Competitive Intelligence huh? Do you have Homeland Security clearance?

MONY. Now that is someone who has changed drastically over the years. I'm not even sure who they are any more since Axa took them over.

Seriously, I always had a fond spot in my heart for Canadian carriers. I had friends with Sun, Manu Life, Gt West, Canada Life and even Confed.

How many of those still exist?

All have changed dramatically.

There are a few big gun life producers on this board but it is dominated by health (including Medicare) producers.

No homeland security clearance, but a lot of product info!

Heck, not even sure myself which one of those carriers are still around... I think Confed is gone... lol If the company isn't a "Top 40", I pretty much have no idea!

So the board is dominated by Health huh? Hmmm, in a way that's kind of cool, want to see what's going on within the health arena....
