Hello from the Great White North

Hey there folks,

Jos Willard here, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I grew up in Alaska, then moved south.

I realize things are a bit different here north of the 49th Parallel, but the basics are the basics, and most things translate relatively well.

I'm Life and A&S licensed, and deal with what are called Exempt Securities up here in Canada (Land Banking, Mortgage Income Corporations, Oil and Gas Exploration Funds, etc.). Been involved with the business since 2001, licensed and selling since 2007. Went full-time this summer.

WOW, what a change. This is a high-work occupation, with quite a lot of potential upside, and right now I'm at the "hard work" stage. More than happy to accept advice and help in the marketing and selling aspect of the business, and looking forward to sharing the "Northern Perspective" where it's appropriate.

Regards,

Jos Willard

Hello and welcome, I know you love the business it sounds like it. I hope you find as much good information as I have I am now adding some cold calling to my prospecting efforts. I started in telemarketing in my teens, I did very well now I just have to use the tools I know and bring it over to this side of the business.

Oddly enough, I was born in Oregon, moved to Alaska when I was 7. I grew up in Soldotna, on the Kenai Peninsula. I remember beating Wasilla's football team a lot in High School, but not much else about Wasilla. Beautiful state though, just hard to live in, I think.

Howdy,

O.K. Canuck, let's get your run down on the "virtues" of the Canadian healthcare system. Let's be comprehensive about it. Let's touch on not only care for minor e/r room visits and check ups but let's also go into waiting times for Major procedures and the various forms of sin tax used to pay for the coverage?

For example here presently gas is 2.39 per gallon here in Kansas.
What does a 12 of domestic beer go for there now?
Any taxation on buying / selling new car?

Please feel free to elaborate and run off at the mouth. I do it all the time.

I can do that, but not comprehensively just at the moment (busy day). I will say this, however:

The biggest debate in Canadian Health Care is the move towards privatization. In other words, while the US is racing to impliment socialized medicine, Canada is lurching towards making at least part of the system private again. Mostly because of wait times, shortages, and government decisions about what is a "necessary procedure" or not.

Make of that what you will.

Oh, and gas is bloody expensive up here. Figure about 85-90 US cents a liter average (depending on where you live), which translates to about 3.28 a gallon.
