At least that's what it feels like sometimes here in Florida. You ask someone how long since they moved from Michigan and they don't even question how you know they're from there.
Me? Never been to Michigan. My church's main campus is there, and you've seen videos that we've put out, like Bryon and Dan celebrating Mother's Day a year ago by experiencing labor pains. Good times.
So as way of introduction, I am the nutjob that moved from Oregon to Florida seven years ago to work for Disney. Buses, Kilimanjaro Safari and Monorails. After a tragedy one night five years ago when I was at work, I realized that my time doing that for the pay a Cast Member receives was over. It was time to do something professional.
Well, after that, and then after dealing with the mental trauma.
I earned my real estate license (my 02-15 was a walk in the park compared to that!) and went into the timeshare industry with two companies... one that I won't name that's kinda sleazy, and the other Starwood, which I highly recommend owning if timeshare is right for you. I found that I loved selling, just that timeshare is not my area. For one thing, I was supposed to push a $30,000 timeshare on someone who might not be able to afford it, and there are times that I can think of now that I could have pushed those people over the edge to buy something that would have wound up being detrimental to them in the end. I just could not do it. Extremely high pressure sales situation with a product that is not for everyone. Wait. That describes every product out there.
Having earned my life and health license, I have fallen in love with the line of products that are life insurance products. There is so much variety in the products and what they do for the owners of the policies, I see something for everyone in our industry... As I have told some people, at least we can make it so that if you die (and the chances are high), at least you can say you got yourself into the ground instead of leaving that to your family.
I have lurked on this forum for a little bit; it was of great use in deciding what to do when "invited" to join a particular company. Thank you. Currently, I am going with a company that has access to several carriers, and a manager who has been in the business for a long time and is very willing to help me get great at it. As far as I am concerned, that's invaluable.
So as the new guy in both the industry and this forum, I appreciate any and all advice that those of you with experience want to give.
