Hi Friends,

Not sure if this has been covered but has anyone discussed the idea that Carriers will FORCE HIGHER DEDUCTIBLES to those who have pre-exsisting conditions?

ex. Ms. Jones has cancer and now has to have surgery. Carrier now comes up with a higher deductible only option of 10k.

Am i wrong about this?

Yes.
Underwriting based on medical history is outlawed under PPACA. Additionally, caps have been placed on deductibles/MOOP.

They can't even ask about it or check...

They don't get to ask about pre-existing conditions.

Tony, Tony, Tony.......

Max OOP is $6350 on every plan

Client can choose any plan they want regardless of health

$0 deductible plans with 20% coinsurance will be available and chosen by some.

With cost sharing reduction, some people (between 138-150% FPL) can buy a silver plan (70% AV), but have a 94% AV value, meaning $500 type out of pocket maximums

NEW plans sold with $10,000 deductibles are illegal come 2014. Can still keep Non GF 10k deductibles at some firms.

Just read this article alluding to that: http://www.modernhealthcare.com/art...WS-308079968&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=am
