Homeowners Appointment in FL

Hi I am a start-up agency in FL. After the contract is signed with a MGA, been told "none of our admitted Homeowners carriers are open to new appointments at this time." It's a devastating strike…

Does anyone know the meaning of the above sentence? If I switch MGA, is it possible this MGA is able to help me get appointments to write home policies?

Devastating. Thank you!

Does anyone give advices? No choices but to join the wholesale to write the home policies?

When will this mess market be cleared up?

I recently sold my P&C agency, partly because of how broken the market in Florida is. You will probably have to wait a year or two for the market to fix itself before you can get any real appointments

Maybe you should get a job with one of the direct writers, ones that are still writing business in FL.

Or go to work for a local independent agency as an employee. Work for a salary for a few years until you get experience.

One doesn't wake up one morning and say "I'm an insurance agent, let's do business."

Yeah, I see a lot going on. The department just post news sending an anti-fraud team to a county to strike those contractors.
