How Do You Handle...

I am passive aggressive on this issue. I don't promote Health Insurance Sales, nor is it on my business cards. I tell clients and centers of influence I will do it for them, or someone they refer, but will not spend a great amount of time on it.

As for calling, I tell them to email me, and I will get to it when I can. I ALWAYS let those calls go to voice mail, and never pick up when they call.

I am also very up front as to how little I make per sale, especially the on-market plans.

No problems, and fair persistency.

It is up to THEM to call the Dr. and verify network affiliation, whether on or off Marketplace. Not me.

clients who bombard you with 1000 questions annoyingly, then don't buy and say they need to think about it/talk about it etc. I keep getting a lot of those during OER. Even previous clients, calling me, getting upset if i don't answer, then when I do they bombard me with 100 questions and don't buy right away. Outside of OER i never got those clients- got a lot of buyers. Now it's just really picky annoying people..

Choices for your clients were better (easier) in past years, Mark.
There are lots of new & confusing networks, rules & govt gimmees involved these days.

They are also getting constant emails from the government right now...confusing them...making them THINK they've GOTTA go to the govt site....where they get even MORE confused.

Also, remember that they are paying a LOT more than ever before....for LESS coverage & network choices than ever before. When more money out of their pockets is involved, they naturally become MORE concerned about WHAT they're actually getting for all of this extra money.

I, too, am answering MORE questions than ever before.
It's part of our new game....compliments of the new regime.

We just have to deal with it....for less pay than ever before.....or get out of this game.

Everything txonline said is true..you have to cut your losses. If you've spent an inordinate amount of time with them, and they haven't bought, then you have to stop taking their calls.

They are getting a lot of info, and it is entirely unpredictable when they'll pull the trigger. Some of them will call you 5-10 times, and then you hear nothing. They've called the marketplace and bought over the phone.

I have a guy right now that he and his wife have called and spoken to me about 5x each. Every conversation is less productive than the one before. I would be happy if he called to tell me he's gotten a plan elsewhere. No offense, but he would be one less professional time waster. You can't win with people like that, they cost you more than you make, in a busy season.

It's simple, tell them they need to find another agent, why beat around the bush by ignoring them?
