How Do You Hire Captive Agents?

We are a thriving independent agency emphasizing property/casualty insurance; our problem is getting more agents to work for us. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these captive agents to make the jump and start having fun selling insurance again?

I'll just ask the obvious, why should they join you?

They were all sold on the opportunity to own their own business, be their own boss. Now you want them to give that up and come join you, with you as their boss.

That is, unless you are talking about the producers in the captive agencies, and not the agent. In that case, how will you be a better boss than their current agent?

Once you can answer that, then you'll know how to recruit them. And by answer, I mean be able to state the reason in just a few simple sentences.
