How many Life and/or Health Companies are you appointed with?

I'm trying to see how many the avg agent is appointed with.

Mark, Life and Annuity Companies I am currently appointed with about 20 but being in Maine I can submit appointment paperwork with my first piece of business so I have product info from additional companies and would present another companies product if it was important.

I would have 3-4 for each area of business, term, UL/WL, FE and Annuity.

I'm actually appointed with several. However, working the senior market I only am active with what I consider the three most competitive in the state I'm selling in.

Only one of the three companies I am selling for this year was I also selling for last year. Today it is very difficult for a captive agent to always remain competitive.

I am appointed to two dozen carriers, but only write through 3 or 4 at the most. I don't know why the other appointments don't get cancelled after I quit producing.

I'm appointed with 35, actually writing business with seven or eight.

We offer 3 main carriers in the FE market to try and cover most all cases. We try to cover the best rates highest comps and most liberal underwriting and have a place for people without bank accounts. This makes the agent much more successful.

People without bank accounts don't put very much $$ in the agent's pocket. They tend to fall off in less than 4 months.
