So I'm working on a few proposals and was curious what expectations I should have for sales agents to be writing in annual premium for supplemental insurance(colonial life south florida market)

Medicare supplement? Colonial Penn? With their outrageous premiums Id expect not much. Though bankers does have some shady tactics.

But since you're new and said colonial life maybe you're talking about a different line of business.

i've never heard of an agent leading with those products and making much money but I guess it's possible. Most agents focus mainly on either Medicare or Life and do those ancillary products as extra income

Rouse does, and recently said that if he ad it to do over again, he would have led with Cancer Insurance. He made a good case. Simple product, good FYC and renewals.

Colonial Life is one of the premier companies writing worksite supplemental health.. Their main competition is AFLAC.. No one can judge what volume another person could be expected to sell as there are just too many variables.. It depends on a person's ambition, drive, coach-ability, etc. There are people in the supplemental health markets other than medicare that make several hundred thousand per year in first year commission and overwrites. Some agency builders make even more...Back around 1980, I was at a convention with company that sold only cancer and accident insurance. They had everyone stand up and sit down based upon their previous year's income.. When they got to $1 million, there were still 6 GAs standing. However, there are many, many more that don't have enough to buy a cup of coffee at the end of the day... but that is not the fault of the product, company or system.

Isn't Colonial Work Place?
I think In heard they are also doing individual through a broker's side but don't know for sure.. I did read that AFLAC is going to give broker's another try. Won't work unless they treat broker's better than before.. Washington National woks both sides.

After what AFLACdid with their Med Supps a few years ago, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Also, I never could stand that f*cking duck!!! :arghh:
