How the G.O.P. Can Cut and Survive...

SS & Medicare will have to be adjusted if they are to survive. About 20 yrs ago SS changes were made that required boomers and younger to wait past age 65 before they could get full benefits.

The most recent proposed change would be phased in over the next 30 years and would not affect current retirees.

Doesn't matter.

The lame stream media reports the parts they want to and those affected only hear what they want.

The country is bankrupt and entitlements have to be on the chopping block if it is going to survive.

Austerity, the new buzz word for our times:no:. It is happening in Europe, and now appears to be happening in Illinois with all their proposed tax increases (is raising taxes austerity, I guess if it is combined with service/benefit cuts). California is next I bet! Here in Georgia we already have austerity - not enough snow plows. Thanks Mayor Reed (Reid?)!

Reed.

No problem.

He will use his Obama power to get a few bucks from DC to buy plows in the after winter clearance sale. By the time the next ice storm hits, in another 20 years or so, the only problem will be making sure the plows still work.

Kinda like those thousands of FEMA trailers that were never delivered and rotted after Katrina.

God I hope it doesn't happen for another 20 years! By then I will be too old and senile to care. If I am lucky I will be living in some tropical paradise with hot male servants waiting on me hand and foot. That is if I come up with a new source of income quickly to keep saving for that!! One can dream....
