I just discovered this "intro" thread. Since I've ventured a couple posts already, I thought I ought to take a minute for a quick intro (hard for me to be quick, though - I tend toward verbosity, as you'll discover).
I've been in the life insurance biz going on 23 years, primarily in home service. I've been an agent for 2 of the larger debit companies, and twice served as staff manager.
I started working in southeastern Virginia in 1990, then moved in 2005 to be close to my wife's family, especially her aging mother. We now live about 30 miles north of Dallas. I do most of my business now in the southern half of the City of Dallas.
I'm seven years into my second go-round as an independent. I'm still involved in home service quite a bit, but I'm equally involved in Final Expense.
I joined the forum a couple of years ago, but promptly forgot about it, until I recently discovered the iPhone app. Timely, though, as I seem to be going through some kind of transitional phase where I'm reevaluating many elements of how I do business. For the last month or so, I've literally spent hours gleaning insight & wisdom from many threads here, especially in the final expense forum.
Thanks all for being so willing to share from both triumphs and failures to help each other learn, grow, & be better agents for the communities we serve. I've learned a lot from you guys so far, and I hope you'll find my presence among you to be pleasant.
