Can an individual who is 57 years old contribute up to the family amount if her husband is on medicare. I am aware of the $2850 contribution and subsequent catch-up contributions, but wonder if this is allowed. thanks.

JR,
There needs to be at least two family members on an HSA-compatible policy for the family contribution to be allowed. No exceptions that I know of if one spouse is already on medicare. In fact, if one is on medicare, there is no more contributions available for that individual unless the law changes at some point.

Thanks Jesse, I was hoping there was a loop hole.
