Hurricane Irene- "in the Box" Question

Can anyone clearly define what the parameters are for a hurricane being "in the box"? I know about the Hebert box that they speak about but I am talking about the "box" that they use in South Florida where you cannot bind property insurance. I cannot find it defined? A web link would be a dream...thanks in advance!

No expert here with respect to south florida, but I would think it would be a carrier by carrier issue.

I also have coastal exposure on the east coast here in VA, but we as a company have a defined box, which limits binding authority. BTW, i am a captive agent.

Thanks for the reply. Apparently "in the box" just means if there is a watch or warning they can restrict binding. Its just slang apparently.
