I Just Got Rolled

Just need to vent.... Erie is the worst company in the world at doing this! I dont know who I should be mad at more, the incumbent or the client. I beat the original renewal by 20% and added coverage... When I sent the LPR, the incumbent called them right away and dropped their pants 40% off their original renewal... Of course, the client brought it back to price and not coverage...

Doesnt that make the agent look like a snake?

Well I guess I learned my lesson.... Dont sent an LPR until it is after the renewal date.

My response to that is "did you happen to ask why he didn't offer you that rate before you were ready to change?"

Doesn't always work, but it does get them thinking.

The Erie agent should have been more proactive I suppose but they didn't have a reason to apply a credit until there was competition.

Erie is one of my carriers and the underwriters sometimes won't approve a credit unless they see the competitors quote.

It goes both ways you win some and you lose some that way. GEICO does that to me all of the time on the personal lines side they have the "magic" button that drops the rate.

I already control the workers compensation and we were moving all of the other policies effective 7/1. I set the incumbent up in the beginning and gave them all the classic "wedge rebuttals"....

You win some, you lose some....

NOW YOU KNOW WHY IT'S GREAT TO BE AN ERIE AGENT!! Sorry you lost it but you should read "The Wedge" to prevent this from happening to you again, or at least minimize the chance.
