IMO/FMO Vs. Direct

Is it always better to have direct contracts with carriers, or is it better to have one or more IMOs or FMOs that you work with?

If it's better to deal with the IMO/FMO, is it usually very difficult to have your contract assigned to them?

Thanks!

Typically you can not work direct to a carrier, but there are a few exceptions. Midland, Jackson National; to name a few.

You typically will get a better contract with an IMO, and some additional back end support. You do have to be careful when contracting with a marketing company (IMO).

I will assume that when you ask "Can I assign"; you are asking if you can move your contract at will. The answer is NO; unless you have an up-front release.

Make sure to deal with a marketing company that gives an up front release in writing. I hope this helps.....
