If a person has not sold any life insurance for 2 years and their renewal period comes, can they still be able to renewal their license? If I apply for renewal and I paid the $100, but get denied, do they give me back the $100 dollars? So far I've been inactive with my license, but I want to keep it for another 2 years just in case I start to use it. They have already told me to take the mandatory course, but I don't want to take the course, and pay for the application and still get denied. How do I know I am eligible for a renewal and I wont be denied? I tried to look this up and it wasn't made clear for me in their website. My State is Georgia.

AFAIK in Georgia as long as you complete mandatory CE hours and pay your license fees you are golden.

That being said, if you have not produced in 2 years carrier appointments may be in jeopardy.

License fees are non-refundable. States so on the site where you pay the fees.

I have no clue about Georgia, but I'm sure states don't care if you sold anything or not. I believe in most states the renewal is automatic as long as you have your required CE and pay any fees that may be due, and you aren't a criminal. My suggestion is to contact your state ins dept for clarity.

As has been said, just do your CE credits, pay your fees, pay for the renewal...done deal.

DO make sure you are still contracted with at least one company and make sure you stay contracted with at least one company.

I am licensed in GA and I don't know of any requirements of production. There should be no issue. Typically if you have not had any bankruptcies felonies, fiduciary breaches, Russian collusion you shouldn't have any issues getting renewed. Fees are NOT refundable so if there is anything that would leave you to believe you could call them and run your situation past them.

Resident Renewal and Reinstatement Process

Resident licensees are required to renew their license prior to its expiration. A licensee that misses the renewal deadline may file a late renewal request, which includes a $15 late fee in addition to the renewal fee, within 15 days of the license expiration date.
Licensees that fail to successfully renew their license may reinstate within 12 months of their expiration date. To be considered for reinstatement the following must be submitted:

  • Form GID-101B-AL
  • Completion of all required CE
    • The total number of CE hours required can vary based on the length of time the licensee has held the license, carry-over hours and professional designations. You may check your CE transcript at www.sircon.com/georgia.
  • Payment of Required Fees
    • Renewal fees (based on license type) + $15 late fee + $15 application fee + $150 reinstatement penalty
  • If a licensee fails to complete the reinstatement process within 6 months of the expiration date of their license, the licensee must submit electronic fingerprints through Gemalto Cogent.
If the reinstatement process is not completed within 12 months of the expiration date of the license, all pre-licensing requirements must be met if the applicant wishes to reactivate their license.
